How we manage sustainability

We believe that we are a responsible company whom strives to meet the needs of the world today without jeopardizing the needs of the world tomorrow. We try to plan ahead and we do our best to address the opportunities and challenges that are, or could be, linked to our activities. We are influenced by many external factors and guided by the values expressed in our code of conduct and by our five zeros.

We seek to use our position to influence both our clients as well as our supply chain to make more sustainable decisions. This should be seen as an opportunity, particularly where we can take a longer term view over the infrastructure we develop.

Skanska has achieved certification through the business to international management standards: ISO 14001 for Environmental Management, ISO9001 for Quality Management and OHSAS 18001 for Occupational Health & Safety.

We develop approaches to sustainability that are relevant and specific to the activity or project in which we are involved.
 

An Independent Special Advisor

Skanska have employed the support of Tony Juniper as an independent special advisor on sustainability issues affecting the company. Tony has reviewed the overall Skanska UK strategy to 2015 as well as inspiring staff at conferences and greening our bids.
