Adam Crossley joined Skanska in 2007 after four years in the 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery. He served in Afghanistan, having trained in Belize and Kazakhstan, before deciding to leave and pursue new challenges.
He joined Skanska as a training and development manager, and moved around the business learning new skills and furthering his career. In 2012, he took a year’s sabbatical to study for a master’s degree in anthropology – something he had always been interested in – before returning.
Adam says: “Effectively I translate our strategic goals into something real: new people, a process, a system, a culture, whatever it might be. It’s important for that to happen otherwise there is a risk of being stuck in the status quo.
“There are endless opportunities for people who are motivated and thrive on a challenge.”
The variety of work is immense and there is plenty of opportunity to move up the career ladder.
