A new acute hospital and refurbishment of existing buildings
The project involved the remodelling and redevelopment of the existing Derby City General Hospital site in Derby for the Southern Derbyshire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. The new acute hospital combine services from both the existing Derby City General hospital and the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary to provide a modern energy efficient environment on one site with state-of-the-art equipment.
In September 2012, Skanska sold its equity investments in the Royal Derby Hospital, the Central Nottinghamshire Hospital and the University Hospital, Coventry, to co-investor Innisfree for GB£66m, aboout SEK 715m.

The new hospital is an up-to-date clinical environment that has helped a number of specialist teams to transform and improve their working practices.
In the pathology department, numerous different functions have been brought together to work with radical new processes to do more work, better, for less cost.
The pharmacy is also reporting improved productivity as a result of a new robot pharmacist that automatically stores and retrieves drugs and medical supplies. The imaging department is delighted to have a 'once in a generation opportunity' to create extra capacity.
