Skanska has been the main contractor for the redevelopment HMP Glenochil in Alloa in Scotland.
We built two new prison blocks, with a total of 534 cells, with 25 per cent designed for double occupancy. As well as demolishing old buildings, we have built a range of other facilities including a new education building, visiting area, car park and health centre. Our work has included everything from construction to fit-out.
The project was completed in 2010.
We designed and built the new facilities at HMP Thameside in London, including a 600-cell four storey building. We also built a range of other facilities including education, rehabilitation and administration.

Skanska is now constructing a new block at HMP Thameside with 332 spaces. This is due to be completed in 2015.
Skanska was awarded this key project by the Scottish Prison Service to design and build a new jail to hold around 500 prisoners. Located in Peterhead, Scotland, the accommodation will house male and female inmates and young offenders and replaces the existing HMP Aberdeen and Peterhead prisons.
