As Europe marks safety and health at work week from Monday, Skanska’s Peter Scott has become one of the first in the construction industry to achieve NVQ level 4 in occupational health and safety.
His award comes after two and a half years of assessment by the British Safety Council and means that Peter is one of only 19 people in the UK to achieve this qualification out of 200 who registered for it.
Peter is a safety advisor on a commercial development at Triton Square in London and was awarded level four after demonstrating, to an exceptionally high standard, his ability to manage safety procedures, advise on legal compliance and develop company and site specific safety procedures.
Peter said, “The assessments were hard work and frequent, but Skanska gave me a lot of encouragement and support during the period which was a great help. This has given me a much higher benchmark against how I advise management on creating a safe and secure environment on the construction site.”
