In a joint venture with Areva and Mott MacDonald, Skanska (AMS) is delivering a contract to support the upgrading and renewal of the UK’s electricity transmission network.
The initial contract length is five years, with a potential extension for a further five years.
Along with the customer, AMS is responsible for the design, management, planning, construction and commissioning of 400kV and 132kV substations across the South East of England.
The civil engineering work includes:
- heavy foundations for transformers, reactors, quad boosters and other HV equipment and services
- infrastructure of piling, retaining walls, roads, drains, culverts, ducts and firefighting equipment
- building works of structural steel, cladding, brick and blockwork and building services
- HV cables and troughs
