When you leave school or college you face one of the biggest decisions of your life – which career to choose. At Skanska we know everyone has to start somewhere, and our programmes help make the move from education to work that little bit easier.
You’ll learn on the job, but our formal apprenticeship scheme gives you the opportunity to gain a recognised vocational qualification at college while working at Skanska. Combining formal training with hands-on experience is a great way to enhance your skills and prospects. When you’re qualified, we’ll also build you a structured career path. Current apprenticeships include facilities management, as well as mechanical and electrical engineering, to name just two.
On-the-job training is a great way to earn whilst you learn. As a trainee you’ll study for a part-time college or university course financed by Skanska , while earning a salary. You’ll be able to study for a valuable qualification, such as a Higher National Certification (HNC) or degree, usually through a day-release study programme.
Short-term placements provide invaluable insight into the world of work, helping young people select the right career path for them. Available during the summer period of your GCSEs or A-levels, these structured placements provide on-the-job training and hands-on experience before you embark on the next stage of your education.
