Immersive environments

Bringing projects to life in Immersive 360° virtual reality allows designs to be experiences, tested and refined before work starts on site.

Using gaming technology in construction

Through gaming technology, such as Oculus Rift, we can create highly interactive experiences. This has been used on commercial building projects, where we can show customers multiple fit-out options – helping them decide on the final building configuration.

Immerse environments in action

We are working with our partner Arcadis, to deliver significant upgrades to Bryn Cowlyd Water Treatment Works that will safeguard the supply of water to around 100,000 people in the Conwy valley and North Wales coast.

The team is using Dwr Cymru Welsh Water's new immersive virtual reality cave – an igloo – to improve efficiency and engage teams. The model is projected onto the cave walls, and our designers and engineers can walk the operations personnel through the facility as if it were already built.

By conducting virtual site visits we have identified and resolved design issues that may have affected handover and operations.

We can use the igloo to avoid clashes between the various water treatment systems, and by applying schedule information to the model, we can streamline the construction and commissioning process.
