The great and the good of the City agency world turned out in force to view the recently completed nine-storey development located in the heart of the City of London, adjacent to The Monument to the Great Fire of London.

Managing Director, Development, Andreas Lindelöf, welcomed the guests and said: “The Monument Building is our first London development under our Workplaces by Skanska banner. With all our developments, we put an emphasis on place-making, sustainability and tenant profitability, creating the right working environment where companies and their workers want to be.

“Three of the nine floors of office space have been let, along with one of the two retail units. We now have 63,000sqft (5,853sqm) of Grade A office space available, with floor plates ranging from 1,838sqft to over 11,000sqft (171 to 1,022sqm) and one retail unit of 3,000sqft (279sqm) located on Fish Street Hill.”

The ninth floor of The Monument Building has been let to insurance company UnderwriteMe Technology Solutions; the eighth floor to TwentyFour Asset Management and; the seventh floor to Booking.com. One of the ground floor retail units has been taken by Olive & Squash which is bringing its new salad bar concept to the City.

Work started on site in December 2013 with three separate buildings (11-15 Monument Street, 46 Fish Street Hill and 1-2 Pudding Lane) demolished to make way for the new modern space. Completion of the development was reached two weeks early.

The Monument Building has been designed to be a comfortable, modern building, with sustainable features such as LED lighting, a green roof and photovoltaic panels, providing a BREEAM Excellent rating.

Along with three roof terraces and a state-of-the-art bike store, showers and changing facilities, the building features an eye catching façade of iodised aluminium fins, designed by architect MAKE, creating a dramatic presence when approaching the front entrance.

Andreas added: “All of the features are designed to suit the occupier needs while blending sympathetically into surrounding areas. The end result is a highly sustainable development that provides a striking background to The Monument.”

Savills and CBRE are the letting agents.
