Will Taylor

Director of Design

Will graduated in Civil Engineering in 1987 and since then has experience in consultancy, specialist contractor and main contractor experience.

Pre-Skanska, Will was involved for several years on the BBC Broadcasting House Redevelopment which was a huge technical challenge. During his time at Skanska, Will has been involved in Hospitals such as Papworth and Karolinska (Sweden), new school schemes in Bristol and through our work on the Anglian Alliance, has aided in the provision of clean water to millions.

When younger I thought myself to be a decent athlete. On one of my first projects the Banbury E-W Link I bet several other Engineers that I could jump across the flood relief channel. I nearly made it!”

Ian Davis

Head of Civil Engineering Design

Ian has 35+ years’ experience. Ian has worked for consulting engineers, and for design departments within main contractors.

Ian’s focus is the design of heavy civil engineering structures, such as bridges and tunnels. Ian has worked in the UK and overseas. He has worked in both Hong Kong and the USA. One such example is the first major all-concrete immersed tube tunnel in the USA Fort Point Channel crossing, part of the Boston Big Dig. At Skanska, Ian has worked on a series of high profile and technically challenging projects. Including leading the contractors design for HS1 Stratford Box, Docklands Light Railway, London 2012 Olympic Park, Crossrail (Bond Street shafts), and now HS2.

Darren Wines

Bridgend Operations Manager (Civil and Structural)

Darren has 30+ years of experience in construction and has worked with Skanska for 15+ years.

Darren is a Chartered Civil and Structural Engineer by profession but considers himself a ‘General Practitioner’ with experience in a range of project types.  He also has specific expertise in industrial structural engineering, and in forensic structural engineering. In his employment with Skanska, the most memorable ones are Bentley Works redevelopment, Kelston Road landslip remedial works and the Isle of Grain second cryogenic line project.

Earlier in my career I once worked on the design of the Olympic Stadium. In my free time, I surf, badly.”

Martin Everitt

Operations Manager (Building)

40+ years of expertise.

Martin is a chartered civil engineer as well as a chartered environmentalist. He has a passion for combining design with environmental improvements. Through his extensive experience Martin has worked in many sectors such as Defence, Retail, Custodial and Healthcare. Some of the types of projects Martin has been a part of are Hangars for the MOD, Bolton shopping centre, Dovegate Prison, and Barts Hospital.

I love to spend my spare time with family, friends, and volunteering with the local scout group. “

Joe Ellingham

Operations Manager (Environment Consultancy, Infrastructure and Noise and Vibration)

Joe has 15+ years’ experience and joined Skanska in 2008. Joe is a chartered civil engineer, with experience in drainage design, bid experience and leading successful project teams

Joe has diverse experience both in tendering for large infrastructure packages of work as well as in delivery. He has strong knowledge in collaborative working and his involvement from project conception through to delivery enables successful project management. Joe has worked in many sectors such as residential, custodial, water and highways. Some project examples are Lowdham Grange Prison, St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School and the Thames Water AMP 6 Sewers Crossing Rail programme.

In 2011, I secured a place on the Skanska Unlimited programme. Joe was deployed to Brazil for six months. Whilst in Brazil I requested a Portuguese teacher. The teacher, Cintia has now been my wife for 9 years and we have two daughters together, Luiza and Olivia!”

Gary Neal

Head of Fire

Gary has 40yrs + Construction – including 30yrs specialising in Fire Engineering

Garys background in building and building management contracts has enabled his Fire expertise to be transferable to many sectors. Gary recent work on infrastructure projects such as the Network Rail Euston Station redevelopment has enabled derisking of both contractor and customer projects. Some high-profile contracts Gary has been involved in are the London Underground Section 12 Subsurface upgrades, Crossrail (Paddington Station and East London Brach Vent shafts), and uniquely in the Royal Palaces, locations including Buckingham Palace, Clarence House, Royal Lodge and Kensington Palace.

In my spare time I am Freeman of the City of London and for a time had the honour of being the youngest to be appointed!”

Mark Roberts

Noise & Vibration Lead

Mark has over 24 years’ experience working as an Acoustic Consultant in the construction industry.

 Mark has has worked on a wide variety of projects in the highways, rail, ground engineering, utilities, building and building services sectors.  He has worked on several major infrastructure projects including Channel Tunnel Rail Link (HS1), the M25 Widening / Upgrade Scheme, Crossrail and HS2. 

My background is in geology, and I was Skanska’s first Chartered Geologist.  I still provide geological advice / support on an as-required basis.”

Meghan McGuire

Principal Environmental Consultant

Meghan has worked in Construction for 5 years, but her background is in Geology and Physical Geography.

 Meghan is a Chartered Environmentalist and Full member of IEMA. Meghan has delivered Air Quality assessments, Carbon footprints and Carbon strategies for a diverse range of customers including Network Rail, National Grid and HS2. The Environmental Consultancy team, deliver both technical specialist services as well as management consultancy.

I spend my spare time playing the Irish sport Camogie (otherwise known as Hurling!)”

Rob Cargill

Chartered Structural Engineer (Building)

Rob has over 25 years of experience in Civil & Structural design, predominantly in Building Structures. 

Rob has worked on projects across a number of sectors including Education, Healthcare, Residential, Commercial, and Defence. He also works with the innovation department managing projects related to improving efficiency/productivity in construction.

I enjoy travel and the outdoor life - walking and camping. I am also a keen pub trivia participant.”

Ross Hampton

Senior Project Engineer

Ross has worked in construction for 21 years and 17 of them have been with Skanska

Ross’ focus is in civil and structural engineering projects, with a predominant focus in the heavy industrial and water industries. Ross utilises his highways structures experience, for the ability to work either as part of a design and build team and/or on framework arrangements. Some key projects that Ross has been involved on are the Tata steel blast furnace rebuild and reline scheme, the Anglian Water AMP framework and the design and build of new buildings and infrastructure for the TATA Steel Power plant.

I have two daughters and enjoy sports, exercise and travelling.”

Richard Screaton

Senior Design Manger

Richard has worked in the construction industry (Skanska) for 6 years. Prior to this Richard was in the Royal Navy for 25 years. Retiring as a Commander

Having worked in defence for 25 years, Richard’s career has spanned from engineering in warships, hard facilities management in government installations through military operations and planning to defence diplomacy. More recently, he has spent 6 years in the water industry with Anglian water in a variety of water recycling projects.

I am a group scout leader which is a very busy role and needs me to neglect a half-finished series 3 Land Rover in the garage!”
