Creating valued partnerships

We’re working with a number of organisations to drive change in our business and the industry.

Career Transition Partnership

We work alongside the Career Transition Partnership, supporting military service leavers in finding a new civilian career. Working closely with our own ex-military network, we ensure we understand how skills learnt in the military can be transferred to the many and varied roles at Skanska.

National Grid

Getting into the job market can be hard – especially if you have a past criminal conviction. We actively support the young offender programme, led by National Grid, which provides ex-offenders with training and employment opportunities. This helps to significantly reduce re-offending rates, from a national average of 50 per cent to 7 per cent. We have trained 116 people and helped 75 ex-offenders into employment since 2005.

The Clear Company

The Clear Company is the UK's leading auditor of inclusive best practice in recruitment. Clear supports us in improving our recruitment policies, processes and practice through their rigorous Clear Assurance auditing process.

Women in Science and Engineering (WISE)

We support WISE's campaign to get one million more women into the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) workforce. We have contributed to work in education and training, for both prospective employees and those currently in full-time education.

National Association of Women in Construction

We have a gold membership with the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) which aims to promote the construction industry as a great place for women to pursue, establish and sustain successful careers, just like Natalie Bowkett, a Senior Temporary Works Engineer at Skanska.

Supply chain

In the UK we spend more than £1billion per year (80 per cent of our revenue) with our supply chain. We promote sustainable business through long-term thinking, environmental consciousness as well as social and ethical responsibility. This will enable us to win and deliver profitable projects through the provision of an integrated safe, green, ethical, diverse, innovative and best value supply chain.
