Skanska secures Woking Borough Council contract extension

Press release 22/11/2016 11:00 CET

Skanska has been awarded a three-year extension to its existing facilities management contract with Woking Borough Council. This builds on Skanska’s existing long-term relationship with the council. The extension begins on 1 Nov 2017, and follows an initial four-year contract. The total value of the extension is £11.2 million.

Skanska will continue to provide a wide range of services at more than 70 properties, including shopping and leisure centres, offices and community centres. This includes planned and reactive mechanical and electrical maintenance, project work, security, cleaning and waste management.

Skanska Managing Director Katy Dowding said: “We’re delighted to be continuing our successful working relationship with Woking Borough Council. The three-year extension is a testament to the incredibly hard work of the operational team. We will continue to look for ways to deliver a better service to the council with Skanska’s values at the forefront of all we do.”

Leader of Woking Borough Council, Cllr John Kingsbury, said: “Our appointed facilities management partner, Skanska, has provided the council with a consistent service for the last four years. As a result, the council has extended its contract by a further three years.

“The initial contract period achieved significant financial annual savings for the council, which have benefitted our finances during a tough economic climate. Going forward, by retaining Skanska as a trusted partner, there may be further opportunities to consolidate services and to achieve additional cost and efficiency savings.”
