The Building Innovation Awards celebrate the most innovative products, services and technology reshaping the UK construction sector.

Skanska was presented with the award for Most Innovative Contractor at a ceremony on Thursday 4 November at The Point, Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.

Some of the recent innovation examples outlined in the award entry included the industry-first beyond the visual line of sight drone trials at Mindenhurst and HS2, Skanska's work on the Collaborative On-Site Construction Robot project and the Zero Trim piling solution, developed jointly by Cementation Skanska and the Skanska Costain STRABAG joint venture.

This award provides further recognition of Skanska's approach to innovation. In December 2020, it became one of the first companies globally to achieve the new Kitemark for Innovation Management from BSI.

The award was presented to Skanska UK’s Head of Innovation, Vaibhav Tyagi, Head of Product Development, Ingrid Hansen and Design Management Academy Lead, Denitza Moreau.

Commenting on the award, Vaibhav said: “We’re proud to receive this award and be named Most Innovative Contractor.

“This is testament to our robust processes, strong networks and the collaborative approach we take to working with our partners, supply chain and customers. All of which is helping to drive productivity improvements and ultimately deliver better outcomes for our customers.”
