Skanska hosts annual supply chain event to share experiences and knowledge to improve health, safety and wellbeing

Skanska’s IFE team recently hosted a packed Injury-Free Environment day at our head office in Leavesden. The annual event brought together 60 members of our supply chain across the infrastructure sector.

The day was centred around making health, safety and wellbeing personal, relevant and important across the sector. The attendees had the opportunity to share knowledge and thoughts around the subject and looked into what they could do in their workplaces, at home or their hobbies to prevent incidents.

After the session Rob Lynch, Managing Director at Lynch Plant Hire, said: “I’m very happy to see the Injury Free Environment supply chain event back for another year.  It’s the most influential programme of safety that I’ve seen in my career. It’s all about care and concern for all colleagues.

“It was an absolute game changer when I first experienced it many years ago out on site. When people feel like someone is caring and has concern for their safety they step up and look after themselves and others.

“It's my responsibility as part of the supply chain to make sure that message gets out there. I’m excited to see the roll out of the programme which will include many orientations out on site.”

Fergal Maunsell, Senior Operations Manager for Danny Sullivan Group, added: “Thanks very much for a great session. It was very informative and beneficial for us to be there. I found the day extremely valuable for helping our business align with Skanska’s vision for an injury free environment. We can all have a significant impact on delivering this message with real tangible action, no matter what role we have within the construction industry.

“The IFE orientation session itself was delivered expertly and allowed for open honest conversations between professionals who all want to work together to have an impact in creating a safe working environment across the industry.”

James Corker, Rail and Energy Sector Director for Skanska, concluded: "It was fantastic to see such enthusiastic participation from senior members of our key supply chain family at the event. Their energy and commitment were truly inspiring, filling me with confidence that together we can make a significant impact on creating a safe working environment for everyone involved in Skanska projects."
