The award celebrates organisations that go above and beyond to recruit from diverse backgrounds and improve representation in leadership roles. Skanska triumphed over nine other shortlisted entries, showcasing its dedication to fostering an inclusive culture that attracts and retains talent.

At the heart of this achievement is Your Lived Experience, a research initiative designed to understand the unique perspectives of our people. Insights from these conversations have driven several impactful programmes, including:

  • Allyship and Active Bystander training
  • Catalyst programme for project directors
  • Regular inclusion stand-ups

Judges praised Skanska’s approach, stating:
“This was an outstanding submission showcasing genuine, strategic, and data-driven inclusion work. The lived experience-led approach, strong leadership development, and measurable cultural shift demonstrates authentic commitment to equity and inclusion. With clear evidence of impact and leadership accountability, this initiative stands out for its comprehensive and people-centred approach.”

Sally Scott, Skanska Talent and Capability Director commented: “I can’t begin to express how proud I am of this award win. It reflects years of coordinated, collaborative effort, backed by our senior leaders. Things aren’t perfect, but they are getting better. Thank you to everyone involved for your contribution.”

This recognition reinforces Skanska’s ongoing commitment to building a workplace where everyone feels valued and supported.
