Skanska has been recognised as one of the Financial Times UK’s Best Employers 2026, ranking 147th out of 500 organisations nationwide and standing as the highest-ranked construction contractor overall.
The list produced in partnership with data-gathering specialists Statista, comprises 500 employers from across the public and private sectors and is based on one of the UK’s largest independent employee surveys.
Katy Dowding, President & CEO, Skanska UK, said:
“Our people are at the heart of how we deliver for customers and communities. This acknowledgment from the Financial Times reflects the pride our teams take in their work, the care we show for one another and the standards we set for ourselves. It’s an achievement for everyone at Skanska and a foundation for what comes next.”
Adam Crossley, Executive Vice President Skanska UK, said:
“This recognition matters because it comes directly from our colleagues and builds on the progress we’ve made through our ‘Your Lived Experience’ programme. This was recognised as the 'Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Initiative of the Year' at last year’s Construction News Workforce Awards.
“Our ambition is to build a culture where people feel valued, supported and able to do their best work every day, on every project. Being named one of the UK’s Best Employers is a testament to that culture and to the contribution of our people across Skanska.”
Skanska is the highest‑ranked construction contractor featured on the UK list, underscoring our position as a trusted employer within our industry.
The ranking places particular emphasis on whether colleagues would recommend their employer to friends or family, alongside additional indicators such as leadership, development opportunities and corporate image. Responses are collected anonymously via third‑party access panels and the FT platform to ensure confidentiality and independence.
