One of the world’s most admired companies opens new head office in Leeds

Press release 21/03/2002 00:00 CET

Leading telecommunications contractor Skanska Networks has chosen Leeds as the location for its new head office. It follows a year of tremendous growth that saw the business acquire local company MG Telecommunications and notch up a string of new contracts including a £65 million project to maintain and upgrade the BT network in the Thames Valley.

The new head office, in Bruntcliffe Road, Morley, opens this week and will house 90 people. Skanska Networks is currently in the process of relocating from its current office in Garforth.

Skanska Networks, a market leader in installing and maintaining fixed line and mobile telecommunications infrastructure, is part of Skanska Construction, the UK business of international construction company Skanska. Readers of Fortune magazine recently voted Skanska as one of the most admired construction companies in the world.

Bob Midgley, managing director of Skanska Networks said: ”After last year’s strong performance and the growth in size following the purchase of MGT, it was important to consolidate our activities into a head office that met our requirements. As one of our existing offices was at nearby Garforth, Leeds was the obvious location.”
