Homes by Skanska given go-ahead for construction on second Trumpington development

Press release 24/01/2013 09:00 CET

The Swedish housebuilder Homes by Skanska is to begin work on a second residential development in the Trumpington area of Cambridge following a successful planning application.

Construction of ‘Long Lane’, the housebuilder’s new 12 acre site just off Long Road near Cambridge city centre, follows the success of its first phase of development in the same area, Seven Acres, which launched in September 2012.

Ground work is to begin at Long Lane in February, with full construction set to commence in April. The scheme will offer 274 properties, comprising a range of one, two and three-bedroom apartments, and three, four and five-bedroom houses.

Long Lane will exhibit distinctive, thoughtful design, with a focus on maximising natural light, and flexible, open-plan living space. Scandinavian design will feature throughout each home, with high ceilings, large windows and well-planned, built-in storage combining practicality with elegance.

In keeping with the firm’s focus on sustainability, each property will be built to level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, with three properties built to Code level 5 - surpassing the standard requirement for Code level 3 on new homes. Plans also include a large park around which the development is centred, landscaping with ecological features and a children’s play area.

Magnus Andersson, President of Homes by Skanska, commented: “We are pleased to be able to start work on what is the second stage of an exciting journey for the Homes by Skanska brand in Cambridge.

“Like our Seven Acres development, Long Lane will create a welcoming environment for homebuyers, with distinctive and sustainable family homes.”
