Two senior appointments have been announced by Trollope Colls Elliott (TCE), Kvaerner Construction’s fast-expanding joinery and architectural metalwork contractor.
Announcing the arrival of Jim Stevens as operations director and deputy managing director, and Robert Hadley as production manager at the company’s Reading factory, managing director Peter Berg commented: "These appointments bring first-class project management skills and fresh ideas from different industries."
TCE has broadened its scope to embrace shopfitting, contract furniture and marine joinery, swelling its order books and boosting turnover by 40 per cent in the past year.
Jim Stevens joins the company with 25 years’ experience of project and general management in the construction sector, both within the UK and overseas. Jim, who is moving to the Reading area from Tyne and Wear, was previously regional business manager for the mechanical and electrical contracting arm of Balfour Beatty, where his responsibilities included the Middle Eastern and Far Eastern markets.
Before that, as deputy managing director of a Midlands-based construction company, he developed a successful high-quality joinery and specialist fit-out subsidiary.
Married with two teenage children, Jim, 47, said: "My principal aim is to capitalise on the established craft skills at TCE and develop effective, integrated project management procedures throughout estimating, planning, design, production and installation."
Robert Hadley, aged 28, began his career with Lucas, whilst studying aeronautical engineering at Loughborough University. After graduating, he worked in Birmingham on development of cryogenic cooling units for satellite systems before moving to the operational side of the business. Since 1995 he has worked in Newcastle for ISL, Europe’s biggest electronic circuit board manufacturer, as a process line manager, and for Mars Confectionery in Slough as an operations manager.
Born and raised in Coventry, he now lives in Berkshire with his wife Alison.
