Homes by Skanska gets the go-ahead in Cheltenham

Press release 26/02/2013 10:00 CET

Homes by Skanska, the residential property arm of Swedish construction company Skanska, has received planning permission on its first Cheltenham residential development.

The planning application was approved as part of Cheltenham Borough Council’s redevelopment of North Place car park, on the northern edge of the city centre.

‘Trinity Square’ will offer 143 properties, comprising a mix of four-bedroom townhouses, as well as a range of one, two and three-bedroom apartments all with underground parking.

This planning application announcement comes soon after Homes by Skanska picked up three prestigious awards for its first-ever development, Seven Acres in Cambridge, which opened in September 2012.

Magnus Andersson, President of Homes by Skanska, comments: “We are pleased to achieve planning  on this exciting city-centre development in Cheltenham. This part of the country is an area we have identified as one that could offer great long-term opportunities.”

In keeping with the housebuilder’s Swedish heritage, each property will exhibit distinctive, thoughtful design, with a focus on maximising natural light and flexible, open-plan living space. Mixing Scandinavian design with contemporary style, each home will feature high ceilings throughout, as well as large windows and well-planned, built-in storage, combining practicality with elegance.

With a firm focus on sustainability, each property will be designed to achieve level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, surpassing the minimum industry requirement for Code level 3 on new homes. Plans also include an attractive public open space for all residents to enjoy.

Seven Acres, in Cambridge, was awarded ‘Best Development Multiple Units’ in the UK category of the International Property Awards 2012; highly commended in the Best Low or Zero Carbon category of the Housebuilder Awards 2012; and most recently received a Built for Life award recognising Seven Acres as one of only five UK developments commended by Building for Life 12 for meeting the government’s  standard for well-designed homes and neighbourhoods.
