Skanska secures extension to Scottish Prison Service contract

Press release 10/11/2005 00:00 CET

Skanska has been awarded a £6 million contract extension by the Scottish Prison Service (SPS) at its scheme to develop HMP Glenochil.

This extension will see the building of a new Staff Facility and Visit Centre at the prison.

The contract was negotiated under the terms of Skanska’s ongoing framework agreement with SPS, which has been in progress since 2003.

“Throughout the framework, we’ve paid particular attention to our client’s needs and expectations,” said Rob Shed, Managing Director of Skanska’s PFI/PPP Construction unit. “This has led to us enjoying a productive working relationship that we hope will continue to future success.”

Work begins immediately and will complete alongside the main development at HMP Glenochil (announced 26 September 2005) in February 2007.
