Repeat luxury homes project for Kvaerner Construction

Press release 27/07/2000 00:00 CET

Kvaerner Construction has negotiated a repeat contract with developer Beaufort Western Ltd to construct luxury harbour-side homes in Bristol.

The £13 million deal is for 107 residential units at The Point in Wapping Wharf and follows a £12 million contract secured last year for deluxe accommodation in Cheltenham.

Work has just started on site where Kvaerner Construction is building four separate blocks of between three and six storeys with undercroft parking as well as nine town houses. A café, internal access roads, services, drainage, landscaping and a public quayside walkway are also included in the contract.

Each building will be constructed with reinforced concrete on foundations which will be piled by Kvaerner Cementation Foundations, Kvaerner Construction’s piling and ground engineering specialist. They will all have insitu concrete floors, while externally balconies will be built with softwood decking on joists with composite metal and glass balustrades.

External walls will include a combination of concrete and metal studding over-clad with insulation and plaster. Roofs are to be constructed with a highly insulated single-ply membrane system laid on metal decking with concrete paving slabs and rubber supports. The town houses will be traditionally constructed.
