Kvaerner Construction’s overseas general contracting company and its specialist design arm have new men in charge following an internal reshuffle to further focus both businesses.
Executive vice president for Kvaerner Construction’s general contracting businesses, David Fison, has appointed Jon Dale as managing director of Kvaerner Construction International.
Mr Fison said: "We have been moving away from centralised operations over the last two years and have doubled our turnover in that time by operating through locally established offices. Jon will now drive forward these operations and ensure that our current projects are performing well."
Mr Dale will be responsible for the company’s successful new ‘local global’ operations including its offices in Egypt, Dubai, India and Poland and the success of its current projects. He will also be responsible for a scaled-down head office which continues to operate from the UK, supporting bids for one-off major international schemes around the world.
Mr Dale joined the company last year as vice president of the general contracting sector responsible for the company’s specialist design arm, Kvaerner Technology. He has more than 20 years of multi-disciplined project-focused experienced gained on projects all over the world.
He is joined by new Human Resources manager Andy Johnson who is responsible for improving performance through better people management in all of the company’s operating countries. A trained civil and structural engineer, Mr Johnson previously worked for Kvaerner Cleveland Bridge as HR manager initially on the Tsing Ma Bridge contract in Hong Kong and most recently for Cleveland’s Dubai-based associate.
Kvaerner Technology’s new managing director is Jim Kirkwood. He will be responsible for continuing to make the company more responsive to its clients’ needs with more focused skills aimed at helping Kvaerner Construction’s businesses deliver improved performance.
Mr Kirkwood rejoined Kvaerner Construction last year following ten years working with geo-engineering consultants. Mr Kirkwood first worked for the company’s ground engineering business 20 years ago and with Kvaerner Technology from 1979 to 1987.
Henry Carruthers, who has worked for various Kvaerner Construction companies over the last 26 years both at home and overseas, has been promoted to the board of Kvaerner Technology as director responsible for Business Systems and Business Development.
