Skanska Technology, the specialist design arm of Skanska Construction Group, has announced three senior appointments to strengthen its engineering design capabilities and support its growing portfolio of design and build and PFI projects.

Peter Eckert has been promoted to operations director for the company at its Maple Cross head office.

Ian Davies moves to Skanska Technology as senior project engineer from Christiani & Nielsen, where he was chief engineer with responsibility for design and build.

John Redpath joins as a senior project engineer from Scott Wilson to lead bridge and civil engineering design in Darlington, where Skanska Technology has a growing design team.

Jim Kirkwood, managing director of Skanska Technology, said: “These appointments will further strengthen our capability to provide industry-leading engineering solutions and services.

“They will reinforce our skills in design and build in both PFI and major civils work. We see a strong market in capital works, where we have a growing reputation for bringing added value through innovative and buildable engineering solutions.”

Peter Eckert was previously an associate director with Skanska Technology, managing the Building Structures and Engineering Services groups. He was responsible for the design of a number of major projects including commercial, leisure and educational facilities and PFI prisons and hospitals.

As operations director, Peter Eckert will be responsible for all of Skanska Technology’s growing Maple Cross based workload and for developing and promoting relationships with key clients.

John Redpath, 43, has 20 years experience of major Scottish bridge projects with Scott Wilson. This includes work on the Kingston Bridge and the White Cart Viaduct in Glasgow, the Kincardine Bridge and the Dornoch Firth Bridge.

In his new post John Redpath will play a key role in drawing together process and civil engineering skills, as well as providing Skanska with a strong regional presence in civils and bridge engineering in the north.

Ian Davis, 38, has extensive experience in marine projects, including the Tilbury Ro-Ro Terminal, the Boston Immersed Tube Tunnels in the US and similar projects in Hong Kong.
