Kontor Skanska has negotiated a £9 million project from Reebok to fit out its new sports centre at Canada Place, Canary Wharf, with an array of state-of-the-art facilities.

Spanning an area of 100,000 square foot over three floor levels, Kontor’s work includes fitting the complex with a junior Olympic pool, gym, basketball, soccer and volleyball court together with a 13 metre rock climbing wall. The club will be able to accommodate up to 10,000 members who can use a luxury health & spa centre and bar & grill restaurant, also fitted by Kontor.

Work starts immediately and will finish in September 2002. Consultants include Urban Building, project manager and Langdon Wilson, architect, both are based in the USA.

Kontor’s director Paul Chandler said: ”This has come at the end of a great year for the business that has seen it successfully complete a number of projects, including the refurbishment of the Kensington Roof Gardens. We also picked up several major projects such as the redevelopment of a large office and residential complex in Curzon Street.”
