Client focused appointments strengthen Skanska’s facilities services senior team

Press release 18/03/2014 14:16 CET

Key personnel placed into strategic positions as Skanska prepares for growth in its facilities services business.

Jane Sansome moves from Skanska’s Infrastructure Development business, which specialises in public private partnerships, to take up a new post of Business Director for Skanska’s facilities maintenance business.

Former chief executive officer of Capital Hospitals, Sansome is to be the new Business Director for Skanska’s facilities operation. Her remit includes business development and bids, as well as looking for ways to further improve the operation of the unit.

Capital Hospitals led the consortium responsible for delivering the £1 billion redevelopment of the St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London hospitals in central London into two new state-of-the-art facilities. As part of the design, build, finance and operate contract, Skanska’s facilities team is providing hard facilities management and waste services for 42 years.

Matthew Inskip, currently project director for facilities services at Barts and the London, is being promoted to the position of operations director for Skanska’s facilities services business. He joins two incumbent operations directors, John Chown and Mike Bartlam.

Skanska’s facilities business is led by managing director Katy Dowding, who won the prestigious Women in the City Woman of Achievement Award 2013.

Last year, Dowding expanded the company’s facilities services operation into new sectors, including the local authority market. This included the asset and total facilities management contact for Woking Borough Council, maintaining 63 sites within the borough over a four-year period. The team also expanded into the sustainable waste management market, developing an innovative behavioural change programme for a number of Barts Health NHS Trust hospitals.

Commenting on the recent changes to her leadership team, Dowding said: “Skanska is entering a period of significant expansion, as the economy picks up and the strategic decisions we have made over recent years start to bear fruit. I am strengthening my senior team to ensure that we have the capacity and resilience needed to meet our goals over the coming years.

“Jane Sansome was previously our customer at the Barts and the London project and she brings significant insight into the customer perspective. She will be invaluable in helping us to understand our clients even better, anticipating and delivering on their needs.”
