Richard Lees Steel Decking gets top safety award

Press release 02/06/2000 00:00 CET

Richard Lees Steel Decking has become one of just 1,000 companies from all industries throughout the UK to receive a prestigious safety award from the British Safety Council.

Kvaerner Construction’s Ashbourne, Derbyshire-based steel decking specialist received the award after satisfying an independent panel of its safety performance and commitment to improving health and safety.

Nick Grimsey, Richard Lees Steel Decking’s managing director said: “The achievement of this award is particularly significant as the majority of projects we undertake involve working at height and are categorised as "high risk". Our erection teams and safety officer have worked hard to attain these important safety standards.”

Winners of the safety award must have lower than average accident rates, good safety policies and safety plans and a commitment to health and safety at board level. They must also detail their health and safety officers’ qualifications and provide details of two significant advances in health and safety for the year.
