Skanska at tall buildings conference

Press release 12/06/2013 11:20 CET

Paul Chandler speaks on the challenges of building tall in historic cities

Executive Vice President Paul Chandler

Executive Vice President Paul Chandler today addresses hundreds of delegates at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat conference in central London.

Paul will discuss the challenges of building tall in historic cities, with examples from Skanska’s portfolio of tall buildings in London, including 30 St. Mary Axe (The Gherkin) and Heron Tower.

He will explain how for a contractor or developer sensitive to the surroundings of a tall building – past, present, and future should be able to live alongside each other in harmony. This is achieved through a solid understanding of what can affect and be affected by a build program: utilities, transport networks above and below ground, archaeological finds, community relationships and green construction.

As a key sponsor, Skanska also has a booth and a number of delegates at the event.
