A Skanska, Aecom, Colas Rail and Mott MacDonald alliance was awarded the contract by Network Rail to design and construct the Waterloo and south west upgrade on the South West Trains network in the south of England.
The alliance will provide full design and construction to bring the Waterloo International terminal back into use. The project also entails platform modifications at Waterloo station and improvements to the outlying stations and rail systems.
Better connections for millions of people
The Wessex route is part of the south western rail network, connecting the terminal at Waterloo station to the south coast and the rail connections in between. The network delivers better connections for millions of passengers.
Working in partnership with Network Rail, the alliance puts an emphasis on innovation, sustainability and collaboration. It brings together international expertise to deliver an enhanced railway that will increase capacity by 30 per cent and protect the network for the future.
