Developing the project
The building has a dramatic profile with a unique façade curving out from the top of the building to first floor level and a prominent triple height reception.
Skanska worked on the project and provided a full pre-construction procurement service that included the appointment of suppliers for all the major works packages. Skanska's design operating unit was employed to ensure that compliance between the various aspects of construction was achieved as accurately as was proposed in the design.
Constructing the project
One of the early challenges during the building programme was the installation of 50 metre steel lined piles by Cementation Foundations Skanska and the construction of a 50 metre deep draught relief shaft and ticket hall for Crossrail underneath the building. Detailed planning has also been required for working on a tight site with restricted access. Works included building, M&E, piling, civil engineering and Steel decking.
