Supporting facilities management
The project
Skanska UK provides a complete facilities management solution for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) at the MoD HQ in Whitehall, London.
The challenge
The projects contain a range of challenges such as historic buildings, security, logistical challenges, poor ground conditions.
The solution
We supported a number of complex problems faced by the estate that have been developed over a number of decades, including:
- Review of safe access equipment
- Temporary works design and coordination
- Collaboration on multidisciplinary elements of work to ensure coordinated outcome
- Post-installation inspections
- Load assessment of historic structures
- Scrutiny of third party design
- Structural analysis and design to ensure safe methods of working for maintenance operations
- Investigation of building defects with proposals for remedial works

We hosted live sessions when looking at complex problems with multiple constraints to ensure that a holistic solution was arrived at first time around.
