KVAERNER CONSTRUCTION IN £37M OFFICE DEAL

A contract worth £37 million for the construction of a new office development in the City of London has been won by Kvaerner Construction.

Working in Chiswell Street for property developer Helical Bar, Kvaerner Construction will build a nine-storey development offering 350,000 square feet of accommodation. The building has been pre-let to leading law firm Slaughter and May.

Kvaerner Cementation Foundations will install large diameter deep piled foundations for the concrete-framed building which will clad be with French limestone with an asphalt-covered roof. Atriums and panoramic lifts will be included inside the building. Work on site will start on Monday (April 26th) and is due for completion by the end of September 2000.

This contract demonstrates Kvaerner’s reputation as a quality builder in London having secured £100 million worth of projects in the capital in the last six months.

Recent office developments secured include a £44 million contract at Atlantic House on Holborn Viaduct; a £30 million project at St Catherine’s House on the corner of Kingsway and the Aldwych; a £14 million deal at Cleveland House on the corner of St James’ Square and a £12 million job in Staines.
