Skanska acquires Temple Gate site for its next office-led development in Bristol

Press release 16/10/2015 13:02 CET

Skanska has exchanged contracts with TCN UK for the sale of a 0.75 acres (0.3 hectares) site at Temple Gate, next to Temple Meads train station in Bristol. The scheme will be Skanska’s next office-led commercial development in the city.

TCN has been regenerating the Temple Gate area since 2009. Temple Studios and Exeter House, its creative and digital campuses, are already established on the site.

Andreas Lindelöf, Managing Director, Development, at Skanska says: “Our vision is to provide the next generation of workplaces. At Temple Gate, as with all our developments, we will work with local stakeholders to realise the full potential of the site, with a modern and sustainable office development that makes a positive contribution to the urban environment.

“Skanska is well known in the Bristol area for its work in construction, particularly in the schools building programme, as well as on the highways network. Our award-winning development at 66 Queen Square is now complete, our first in Bristol under the banner of Workplaces by Skanska. And as a major sponsor of Bristol 2015 European Green Capital, we’re helping to build a green legacy for the city.

“The new opportunity at Temple Gate reinforces our commitment to Bristol, right in the heart of the enterprise zone.”

Richard Pearce, CEO of TCN comments, “Having acquired the site in 2009, we have built up a vibrant community of companies through regeneration of the old buildings. The area is now recognised as a dynamic location and we are delighted that Skanska will bring its development skills to complete the final phase.”

Skanska’s 61,000sqft (5,667sqm) office development at 66 Queen Square was pre-sold to Aviva Investors Property Trust earlier this year and the majority of the scheme has been pre-let to KPMG as it invests in new flagship premises in Bristol. Skanska is also developing The Monument Building in London EC3, which will provide 94,000sqft (8,733sqm) of office and retail accommodation over 10 floors and is due for completion in May 2016.

In Bentley, Doncaster, Skanska recently redeveloped its workshop and office facilities as part of a ‘Deep Green’ project with near-zero impact on the environment.

Skanska recently purchased 51 Moorgate for its next development in London.
