Press release 04/02/2016 12:00 CET

West Sussex County Council has appointed Skanska to a six-year highways construction framework.

Skanska joins £250 million West Sussex highways framework

The Major Projects Framework is a £250 million investment in the county’s roads and associated infrastructure.

Projects carried out through the framework are likely to include large bypass schemes, town centre redevelopments, highway structural improvements, carriageway resurfacing, and drainage improvements.

The framework is split into two separate lots; one encompassing projects worth less than £2 million, the second covering large design and build contracts with values in excess of £2 million. Skanska will be eligible to win projects within the latter.

The first contracts within the framework are expected to be awarded in February.

Skanska Operations Director Gerry Curran said: “We are delighted to be supporting West Sussex County Council in the delivery of such a substantial infrastructure investment.

“This framework is an excellent mechanism through which we can help the council to provide significant improvements for road users. It will further integrate the authority’s planning, design and construction processes, meaning that projects are completed in the most timely and cost-effective way possible.

“The Skanska highways team has a fantastic track record of collaboration with our customers in East Anglia, the south-west, and the south-east of England, and my focus is to now bring that same approach to West Sussex.”
