The poll to name our two new piling rigs is live on twitter
Our employees have been suggesting names for our two brand new Soilmec SR-75 piling rigs, the latest additions to the Cementation Skanska fleet.
These rigs will appear at a variety of projects – some high profile – across the country.
A shortlist of four pairs of names has now been created:
Pӓla and Grundlӓgga
In line with Skanska’s heritage, Päla means ‘drive piles’ and Grundlägga means ‘lay the foundations’ in Swedish.
Big Bryn and Bauma
These relate to the two debut visits for the rigs – one is currently working at the Bryn Cowlyd Water Treatment Works in Wales, the second was on the Soilmec display at the Bauma trade fair, held in Munich during April.
Sienna and Saffron
The Cementation fleet stands out from the crowd with its orange branding, reflected by these names.
Brunel and Telford
Named after Isambard Kingdom Brunel and Thomas Telford, two men who revolutionised public transport and modern engineering.
