Skanska is supporting this year’s Open House London, which opens up hundreds of buildings in the capital to the public, as its sustainability sponsor. The aim of the event is to promote awareness of London’s architecture and increase interest in the subject. It takes place over the weekend of 17-18 September.

A number of buildings constructed by Skanska are included in the event, including Brent Civic Centre, which is one of the UK’s greenest public buildings; 30 St Mary Axe, also known as the Gherkin; the St Botolph Building and 6 Bevis Marks.

Open House London is organised by Open-City, a charity which aims to help create better places and a better city. Skanska has been a corporate sponsor of the organisation for a number of years, and also takes part in Open-City’s Green Sky Thinking Week, which promotes sustainable thinking.

Skanska Managing Director Paul Heather said: “We’re keen to promote environmentally friendly solutions, and are one of the UK’s leading green contractors, so being Open House London’s sustainability sponsor is a good fit with what we do and links with our purpose ‘We build for a better society’.”
