Agents of change

Management Today has published its Agents of Change power list for 2017, which includes Skanska UK’s president and CEO, Mike Putnam. Mike was selected out of more 100 entries from across all sectors, ranging from FTSE 100 companies to a local school.

The judges commented: “Putnam has put diversity at the heart of Skanska’s business plan, leading to killer statistics such as 34 per cent of new employees being female (11 per cent industry average) and 70 per cent of those involved in the firm’s ‘mixed-pair’ mentoring scheme enjoying promotion.”

Mike Putnam said of his award: “I am passionate about creating a more inclusive construction industry but we still have a lot of work to do to redress gender inequality. By creating more diverse teams, with broader thinking, it will help us to deliver better solutions for our customers, create a more sustainable future for the sector and build a better workplace.”
