Skanska cements its commitment to Greater Manchester

Press release 16/01/2018 16:50 CET

Skanska has opened a permanent office in Manchester city centre, as part of its commitment to working in Greater Manchester.

Skanska’s team in Manchester: Mark Boden, Iwan Evans and Mo Perkins

In fact, Skanska has been supporting the region’s success for many years. Its piling and foundations team alone has worked on (or rather under) more than 150 buildings and infrastructure projects across Greater Manchester in the last 25 years.

Leading the local Skanska team are Mo Perkins, Mark Boden and Iwan Evans, pictured here in the new office, which is at NEO on Charlotte Street.

The office opening follows Skanska’s successful project delivery of the Ordsall Chord for Network Rail, a new local landmark that is increasing rail capacity and improving connectivity across the north of England, as part of the Northern Hub project.

The first train went across the new bridge in December 2017.

The project included:

  • installation of the UK’s first asymmetric rail bridge, the Ordsall Chord
  • bridge renovation work, including the Grade I listed Stephenson's Bridge
  • reconfiguration and laying of new track
  • widening of viaducts
