KVAERNER CONSTRUCTION WINS £1.3M INDIAN CONTRACT

Kvaerner Construction’s Indian-based subsidiary, Kvaerner Cementation India Ltd, has won a contract to build an in-take channel with associated work at Bhivpuri generating station for Tata Electric Companies in Khandi, India.

The new channel, work on which is due to be finished early in 2001, is needed to cope with an increase in capacity at the generating station. The £1.3 million project includes constructing a gate shaft, the new in-take tunnel and a coffer dam, fabrication and erection of regulating gates and underwater excavation for deepening a channel.

Kvaerner Cementation India is also building a mini hydro power station at Bhivpuri, strengthening the Mulshi Dam and is carrying out rehabilitation works and building a pumphouse at the Kundli Dam for Tata Electric Companies.
