Skanska lands £12 million road bypass in Leicester

Press release 25/05/2001 00:00 CET

Skanska’s civil engineering operation has won a £12 million project to build the 5.6-km A6 Great Glen bypass in Leicester.

Awarded by the Highways Agency, the design and build contract will start this month with completion in autumn next year.

The bypass will be dual carriageway and takes traffic away from Great Glen village. The project will see Skanska build five structures; a river bridge, three accommodation bridges and one culvert.

Skanska subsidiary company Cementation Foundations has the contract to carry out the piling for the structures. Project designer is Babtie Group.
