Announcing the Skanska UK Supply Chain Green Solution Award 2011

Press release 31/05/2011 11:00 CET

To coincide with our annual Environment Week (6th – 10th June 2011) Skanska continues its search for good green solutions from the supply chain. We are looking for innovative, inspirational products or ways of working to support our ambition to be the leading green project developer and contractor in the UK.

The competition is open to all current and prospective members of Skanska’s supply chain. We are looking for green solutions with the potential to be incorporated into our future projects that achieve one or more of the following:

  • Minimize Energy Consumption
  • Use alternative, renewable energy sources
  • Reduce embodied carbon
  • Reduce material waste
  • Eliminate the use of hazardous substances
  • Reduce potable waster consumption

The winning entry will be invited to Skanska UK’s Annual awards ceremony in November this year to receive their award. This will result in significant internal and external promotion of the green solution.

What counts as a Green solution? To qualify for the award, the Supply Chain Green Solution must:

  • Be a product or process that is directly applicable to a construction project
  • Have a strong business case, providing both environmental and economic benefits to our customers
  • Have been used successfully at least once (not necessarily on a Skanska project)
  • Be transferable to Skanska

What does not count as a Green Solution? Unfortunately, we cannot accept the following as a Green Solution:

  • A construction project
  • An internal company process
  • A research project
  • An untested concept or prototype

The deadline for all submissions is July 29th 2011. For further information, or to download an application form please go to www.skanska.co.uk/greensolution
