Skanska to reduce Kent and Medway Partnership Trust energy usage

Press release 12/11/2013 13:17 CET

Kent and Medway Partnership Trust (KMPT) has named Skanska as its Preferred Bidder to significantly reduce its energy usage.

The energy performance contract (EPC) will help the Trust achieve it’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions by 25 percent and gas and electricity consumption by 23 percent from year 1.

Skanska’s energy team will assess around 12 of the Trust’s current sites throughout Kent, measuring current energy usage then recommending and agreeing a number of energy saving measures with the Trust. The measures will take about a year to put in place and may range from behaviour change programmes to installing renewable energy sources such as biomass boilers.

“The savings gained from the energy efficiency infrastructure upgrades to our properties will allow the project to remain cost neutral to the Trust until payback is achieved, after which we will benefit from considerable savings on utilities costs. This contract will contribute to our plans to focus saving initiatives on corporate costs wherever possible to protect front line services, as well as doing our bit to protect the environment” said Angela McNab, the Trust’s CEO.
