Clark & Fenn Skanska wins Royal Festival Hall interiors contract

Press release 05/09/2005 00:00 CET

Skanska’s ceilings and decorative plasterwork specialist Clark & Fenn Skanska has won a £1.1 million specialist ceiling package within the soon to be refurbished interiors at the Royal Festival Hall on London’s South Bank.

Clark & Fenn Skanska’s unrivalled expertise in this field, coupled with extensive in-house research and development was crucial in the company’s successful submission to main contractor ISG Interior Exterior.

Within this pre-tender design phase, Clark & Fenn Skanska worked closely with Skanska’s in-house design unit, and architects Allies & Morrison to principally develop the design for replacement 100mm thick Glass Reinforced Gypsum (GRG) ceiling panels to the Auditorium within the Grade I listed building.

In addition to the new ceilings in the Auditorium, Clark & Fenn Skanska will provide replacement ceilings in the public circulation and back of house areas, using GRG, plasterboard, metal panel systems and bespoke aluminium ‘eggcrate’ ceilings.

Work begins this month and is expected to complete in January 2007.
