£44M CITY DEAL FOR KVAERNER TROLLOPE & COLLS

Press release 07/12/1998 00:00 CET

Kvaerner Trollope & Colls has won a £44 million contract to build a 12-storey office development on the north-west corner of Holborn Viaduct in the City of London for The Prudential Assurance Limited.

The work includes building the shell and core of the new 370,000 sq ft Atlantic House high-quality City of London office building as well as rebuilding one of the historic gatehouses constructed as part of the viaduct in 1865, but destroyed in the Blitz.

Built around a full-height atrium rising from Farringdon Street, the new steel-framed structure will be cloaked in a curtain-walling system featuring glass, metal, granite, Portland stone and sandstone to blend with the 19th century viaduct.

Construction work on Atlantic House will start in Spring of next year following the demolition of the present fifties-built block.
