New MD for Skanska’s civil engineering business

Skanska UK today announces the appointment of Bill Hocking, 39, as managing director of its civil engineering business.

He joined Skanska in 1990 and has been on the board of Skanska UK Civil Engineering since 1997, where as director responsible for the south helped expand the company’s market share in the infrastructure and water sectors.

Mr Hocking will continue to focus on developing the business in these markets as well as work closely with other companies in the Skanska group to combine skills for Skanska’s niche markets, such as LNG, marine and rail communications.

Mr Hocking said, “There are exciting opportunities across several markets for contractors who move fast enough to meet the evolving and increasingly sophisticated needs of clients. We aim to meet these needs by continuing to take advantage of the strength that sets us apart from rivals - our unique range of specialist in-house skills.”

Mr Hocking will report to Alan Tweddle who becomes chairman of Skanska UK Civil Engineering alongside his role on the main board of Skanska UK.
