Worthy Down and Princess Royal Barracks
We are involved with two major projects for the Defence Infrastructure Organisation. The first is a world-class facility at Worthy Down in Winchester; the second is the development of a new community to replace Princess Royal Barracks in Deepcut, Surrey. Combined, the new facilities will help the Ministry of Defence (MoD) rationalise its estate and improve its training provision and living quarters.
The building of the Defence College of Logistics, Policing and Administration at Worthy Down includes new supporting infrastructure and accommodation.
Mindenhurst – a new neighbourhood in Deepcut, Surrey – will replace the Princess Royal Barracks. The transformed area includes 1,200 homes, a school and other amenities.
Worthy Down
The new facilities at Worthy Down will provide high quality permanent and temporary living and working accommodation for the armed forces. The single location solution for training and operations meets the combined needs of Princess Royal Barracks, HMS Raleigh and RAF Halton.
The new Defence College is a tri-service training and administration facility. On-site, personnel can enjoy:
- a communal restaurant
- retail and leisure space
- community and welfare areas
- single and family accommodation for military personnel
Minimal disruption
Our remit includes managing a smooth transition to the new facilities. We’ll fulfil this by minimising disruption to military operations and training, units and personnel.
The project is an opportunity to create a truly sustainable environment at Worthy Down. As a residential training establishment the site supports living, working and training as a continuous operation.
Managing transformation
As development manager for Princess Royal Barracks, Deepcut, we will transform the site.
Maximising returns
We will also maximise returns to the MoD by improving land value through placemaking for Mindenhurst. The essential local amenities integrated within the scheme include:
- a new primary school
- retail outlets
- sports facilities
- business premises
