Skanska deepens its commitment to the North West

Press release 29/04/2016 10:00 CET

This week sees Skanska become a patron of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce (GMCC), confirming its commitment to growth in the region.

The move follows the formal contract signing for the Ordsall Chord project in Manchester, a joint venture with BAM Nuttall, in alliance with AmeySersa, Siemens and Network Rail, that will link Manchester Victoria and Piccadilly stations for the first time.

Patrons are part of an influential network, enabling Skanska to collaborate with other leaders and businesses in Greater Manchester and beyond.

Anthony Arkle, Director of Government Affairs at Skanska, said: “The partnership with GMCC will help Skanska to develop its strategy for growth, make connections with some important partners and stakeholders, and better understand the business environment.”

Stella Bowdell, Director of Membership at Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, said: “We’re delighted that Skanska have become a Patron member of the Chamber. The work they are doing in the context of the current developments in the city sits right at the heart of bringing the Northern Powerhouse to life. Skanska is another important addition to what is fast becoming an extremely influential and powerful group of Patron members here at the Chamber and we look forward to helping them achieve their business objectives.”

The relationship with GMCC also supports Skanska’s commitment to building for a better society and their city-led growth strategy, helping the company to understand how best to contribute to the development of Greater Manchester in a sustainable way.
