Second house builder selected to deliver 131 new homes at Mindenhurst, Deepcut

Skanska, the construction and development company behind the redevelopment of the Princess Royal Barracks at Deepcut, Surrey, has appointed Bovis Homes Group as the house builder to deliver the second phase of housing at the Mindenhurst scheme.

Skanska has appointed Bovis Homes Group as the housebuilder to deliver the second phase of housing at the Mindenhurst scheme.

Bovis Homes will now submit a detailed planning application to Surrey Heath Borough Council and could begin construction as early as 2019. Bovis Homes is the second house builder to secure land at Mindenhurst and is set to offer a range of property types, suitable for downsizers, growing families and first-time buyers.

The Mindenhurst scheme as a whole is being delivered by Skanska on behalf of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), with each phase of new homes allocated to individual house builders. The first phase is currently being built by CALA Homes. Further phases will be released as the scheme progresses. Skanska is also delivering key infrastructure, such as new roads and community amenities.

Mindenhurst will provide around 1,200 new homes by 2025. The masterplan also includes a new primary school, 69 hectares of public green space, a pub, shops and business premises.

The redevelopment is part of the wider Project Wellesley, for which Skanska is the DIO’s development partner. This involves the construction of a new training facility at Worthy Down in Winchester that, in part, will replace the Princess Royal Barracks at Deepcut. All military functions and personnel will be relocated to Worthy Down using a phased approach.
